![]() Recently I had the chance to catch up with Sean Stock, managing director for Goldeneye: Source. Here is what he had to say about his current project. How is the progress coming along for GE:S? Currently the team is actively working on new gameplay modes, code, weapons, and art assets for the next release (Beta 4). Overall, progress to the final release of the mod is probably somewhere around 60-70% finished. For the next release we have two new maps, Caverns and Facility Backzone all ready to go. New characters and animations, as well as classic features from N64's GoldenEye 007 such as bullet penetration and rolling explosions will also make the cut. New game modes are also in there such as Live and Let Die and Capture the Key, just to name a few. How many people are currently working on the project and in what capacity? We have 32 developers in different fields such as programming, art (which is both 2D and 3D as well as conceptual artist), level and
When can we expect an update to the game, and do you have a date in mind when you would like to have a final release ready? Right now the development team is trying to get the Beta 4 release ready to go as soon as possible, with as many new features and content as we can fit in. As for a final release, at this time it's difficult to try to predict it, depending on what we come up with to implement in the future. Plus we like to build up the hype.
" If it was in Goldeneye 007, it will be in Goldeneye: Source "
Currently GE:S is multiplayer only, is a single-player campaign planned for the final release? The development team is currently focusing on nailing down the classic multiplayer experience from GoldenEye 007. When the multiplayer component is finished, there is a high probability that we will attempt to tackle recreating the singleplayer campaign.
That's a difficult question to answer; most of the things we choose to implement either come directly from GoldenEye 007, or someone on the development team spontaneously comes up with an idea, discusses it, The goal of the GoldenEye: Source development team is to recreate the greatness of GoldenEye 007, using the modern technology of the Source engine and its fantastic graphical and online capabilities. The ability to play online with other hardcore GoldenEye fans with modern graphics and sound effects enhances the experience to become something that many fans never thought possible.
No problem. All that we ask of our fans is to keep playing, and tell your friends about the mod! The more players and popularity the mod has, gives us the motivation to continue to develop and get things out faster for everyone to enjoy.

and then possibly has it implemented, tested, and included in the final release. If it was in GoldenEye 007, it will be in GoldenEye: Source with a little extra included.

I like what the developers are doing with this matter, and all I can say is keep up the good work, and please don't fuck up the campaign, that's all I've got to live for.
Another thing is, I would like for the final release to be playable on all platforms, not just PC, and most-deffinatel y on the Wii, 'cause I'm a major fan of "Xbox 360" and "PS3"
